Professional Liability Claims Specialist
Job Summary
Seeking a highly skilled and experienced Professional Liability Claims Specialist to join a team. This role is responsible for the management, oversight, and resolution of professional liability claims, with a particular focus on lawyer and accountant liability. The ideal candidate will possess advanced technical expertise in claims handling, strong analytical skills, and the ability to effectively manage complex investigations and litigation.
Compensation Package
- Base Salary Range: $100,000 - $150,000 (actual salary will be determined based on factors such as scope, complexity, location, skills, education, and experience).
Responsibilities
- Manage complex investigations of professional liability claims, including coverage analysis, liability assessment, and resolution strategies.
- Determine appropriate claim resolution strategies, including settlement or litigation, while effectively managing loss costs and claim expenses.
- Oversee investigative activities and litigation, ensuring timely and accurate reserve postings.
- Coordinate discovery and litigation strategies with panel attorneys and/or insured-retained counsel.
- Negotiate complex settlements through mediations and alternative dispute resolution mechanisms.
- Draft concise and well-written large loss reports for senior management.
- Prepare and present claims to management, internal business partners, and clients.
- Provide recommendations on claims processes and resolution strategies to management.
- Maintain strong knowledge of lawyer and accountant malpractice and litigation processes.
- Collaborate with attorneys, account representatives, agents, and insureds on claim handling and resolution.
Qualifications/Requirements
- Juris Doctorate strongly preferred.
- Minimum of 6 years of professional liability claims experience, with a strong background in accountant and lawyer malpractice claims.
- Advanced technical expertise in claims handling, insurance principles, and resolution strategies.
- Proven ability to analyze complex claim facts, implement long-term strategies, and evaluate claims based on cost-benefit analysis.
- Strong communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
- Advanced analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Exceptional organizational and prioritization skills to manage multiple projects effectively.
- Ability to adapt to change and manage ambiguous situations.
- Strong interpersonal and team collaboration skills.
