Commercial Auto Claims Examiner - Property Damage (Total Loss)

Job Summary

Seeking a highly skilled and experienced Commercial Auto Claims Examiner specializing in Property Damage (Total Loss) to join a team. This is a fully remote, full-time position offering the opportunity to work with a reputable and financially strong insurance group. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in handling commercial auto claims, including total loss, cargo, and in-tow claims, with a focus on delivering exceptional customer service.

Compensation Package

  • Hourly Rate: $37-$39/hour (Temp-to-Hire)
  • Annual Salary Range (upon hire): $65,000-$85,000

Responsibilities

  • Investigate and resolve non-litigated commercial auto claims (Property Damage only, no Bodily Injury).
  • Handle claims from across the U.S., including total loss, fire, theft, and glass claims.
  • Manage a caseload of 135-160 claims, with an average of 175+ features.
  • Evaluate and process first and third-party damages, including cargo and in-tow claims.
  • Obtain and review estimates, evidence, reports, and other documentation.
  • Establish damages, reserves, and process payments.
  • Take recorded statements from insureds, claimants, and witnesses.
  • Maintain claim files in accordance with best practices.
  • Obtain and maintain all required state adjuster licenses.

Qualifications/Requirements

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree (required).
  • Licensing: Active adjuster license required, with the ability to obtain TX and FL licenses (company-sponsored).
  • Experience:
    • Minimum of 3+ years handling commercial auto claims.
    • At least 1+ year of total loss claims experience.
    • Cargo and in-tow claims experience preferred.
    • Familiarity with salvage platforms is a plus.
  • Skills:
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
    • Excellent organizational and time management abilities.
    • Proficiency in investigating coverage and writing coverage letters.
    • Ability to present files in roundtable discussions.
    • Self-motivated and capable of working independently with minimal supervision.
  • Location: Candidates must reside in or be willing to work Pacific Standard Time (PST) business hours. Flexibility to travel for conferences and meetings if required.
