Commercial Lines Department Manager

Job Summary

Seeking an experienced and dynamic Commercial Lines Department Manager to lead and oversee a Commercial Lines team. The ideal candidate will bring a wealth of experience in commercial insurance, a strong leadership background, and a commitment to excellence. This position is based in Pittsburgh and requires on-site presence five days a week, with potential for a hybrid schedule after the initial six months.

Compensation Package

  • Base Salary: Competitive, starting at $115,000+ (commensurate with experience)

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage a team of approximately 15 professionals across multiple office locations.
  • Oversee employee development, coaching, and performance management.
  • Conduct internal audits to ensure adherence to established processes and procedures.
  • Maintain and strengthen carrier relationships, including interactions with carriers such as CHUBB, Cincinnati, Travelers, FCCI, Selective, and Philadelphia.
  • Coordinate continuing education (CE) initiatives and scheduling.
  • Provide high-level oversight on complex or cumbersome renewals.
  • Collaborate with senior leadership and other departments to achieve organizational goals.
  • Travel twice annually to other office locations to foster team cohesion and alignment.

Qualifications/Requirements

  • Licenses/Designations: Property & Casualty (P&C) license required; CPCU or higher designation preferred but not mandatory.
  • Experience:
    • Ideal: 15+ years in commercial insurance.
    • Minimum: 10 years of relevant experience.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in Epic software.
  • Soft Skills: Strong leadership, communication, problem-solving, and organizational abilities. Must be adaptable, detail-oriented, and capable of fostering a collaborative team environment.
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in a related field preferred but not required.
