Senior Complex Claims Specialist - A&E

Job Summary

Seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Complex Claims Specialist to join a dynamic and growing team. This role focuses on managing complex claims within the Architects and Engineers (A&E) professional liability lines of business. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in claims management, excellent analytical skills, and a commitment to delivering superior customer service.

Compensation Package

  • Salary Range: $125,000 - $155,000 annually

Responsibilities

As a Senior Complex Claims Specialist, you will:

  • Review and analyze claim documentation and legal filings.
  • Draft comprehensive coverage analyses.
  • Strategize and maximize early settlement opportunities.
  • Monitor litigation and manage local defense counsel.
  • Attend mediations and settlement conferences, either in person or virtually.
  • Manage and track third-party vendor and service provider expenses.
  • Assess exposures and ensure adequacy of claim reserves, escalating high-exposure claims as needed.
  • Liaise directly with insureds and brokers to provide timely and professional communication.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation in the claims management system.

Qualifications/Requirements

Must-Haves:

  • 5+ years of experience with a JD from an ABA-accredited law school and bar admission in good standing, or 10+ years of relevant experience.
  • Minimum of 2-3 years of professional experience in Architecture & Engineering and/or Professional Liability; coverage experience preferred.
  • Excellent analytical, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Strong ability to establish rapport and build relationships with clients.
  • Team-oriented mindset with the ability to excel in a collaborative environment.
  • Adjuster licensing required within 90 days of employment.
  • Willingness to travel up to 10%.

Preferred:

  • General understanding of insurance law.
  • Prior experience with an insurance carrier.
  • Experience attending and leading mediations, arbitrations, and trials.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently with minimal oversight.
  • Commitment to professional development, including pursuing certifications such as CPCU, ARMS, or AINS.
