Underwriter - Contract Surety
Job Summary
Seeking a highly skilled and motivated Underwriter specializing in Contract Surety to join a team. This role offers the opportunity to manage a book of business within a designated territory, with profit and loss responsibility. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in underwriting, financial analysis, and account management, as well as the ability to develop and execute strategic marketing plans.
Compensation Package
- Salary Range: $88,000 - $126,000 annually (depending on experience)
- Employment Type: Permanent, full-time position
Responsibilities
- Manage and maintain profit and loss responsibility for a book of business within the assigned territory.
- Develop and execute a marketing plan to generate new business by targeting key brokers, arranging meetings, and attending industry functions.
- Conduct underwriting functions, including financial analysis, account analysis, industry analysis, and administrative tasks.
- Adhere to underwriting guidelines and authority limits.
- Serve as a resource on underwriting and territory-related issues for team members across the country.
- Lead special projects and perform additional duties as required.
Qualifications/Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in insurance, finance, risk management, business, or a related field.
- A minimum of 4 years of experience in Contract Surety underwriting.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to apply strategic perspectives to underwriting processes.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Proven ability to work independently and meet objectives.
- Willingness to travel within the assigned territory to meet with agents, contractors, and attend industry events.
