Position Summary

Seeking an experienced Insurance Auto Appraiser to handle physical damage claims for a growing insurance carrier in the greater Detroit area. This role is responsible for inspecting damaged vehicles, preparing accurate repair estimates, and ensuring fair, timely claim settlements in compliance with company guidelines and state regulations. The ideal candidate has strong technical auto repair knowledge, excellent negotiation skills, and experience working independently in a fast-paced claims environment.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • 2+ years of auto physical damage appraisal experience from an insurance carrier
  • Strong knowledge of vehicle construction, repair techniques, and parts sourcing
  • Proficiency with auto estimating software (e.g., CCC, Mitchell, Audatex)
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel within assigned territory
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Inspect damaged vehicles (in person and/or via virtual platforms) and determine cause, severity, and extent of loss
  • Prepare accurate repair estimates using industry-standard estimating software
  • Evaluate repair methods, labor hours, and parts pricing for accuracy and compliance
  • Negotiate estimates with repair facilities and vendors when appropriate
  • Document all claim activity clearly and thoroughly within claim systems
  • Ensure claims handling meets company standards, customer expectations, and regulatory requirements
  • Provide professional, timely communication to policyholders, body shops, and internal partners
  • Manage workload efficiently to meet productivity and cycle-time goals
