Overview:
Seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior General Liability Claims Adjuster with specific expertise in New York Labor Law. The ideal candidate will have a strong background handling complex bodily injury claims, including construction-related litigation, and demonstrated experience navigating the nuances of New York Labor Law (NYLL). This position requires excellent analytical, negotiation, and communication skills, as well as the ability to manage a complex caseload independently.
Benefits:
- $120,000 - $155,000/year
- Up to 10% target bonus based on company and personal performance
Qualifications:
- 7+ years of experience handling complex General Liability claims, with at least 3 years specifically focused on New York Labor Law claims.
- Deep understanding of NY Labor Law Sections 240, 241, and 200 and how they apply in construction and premises liability claims.
- Strong litigation management skills and familiarity with New York state courts and legal processes.
- Proven negotiation skills and the ability to resolve high-exposure claims efficiently.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency with claims management systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Adjuster license(s) as required by state regulations (New York license strongly preferred or must be obtained promptly).
Day-to-day: The successful candidate will work with third party administrators, participate in client set-up meetings, attend mediations and trials, and assist in the risk selection process. They will also be responsible for identifying loss trends and resolving any claims or service issues that arise.
Responsibilities:
- Investigate, evaluate, and resolve a portfolio of complex General Liability claims, with an emphasis on NY Labor Law exposures.
- Analyze coverage, liability, and damages to determine appropriate claim resolution strategies.
- Handle claims from initial assignment through conclusion, including litigation management when necessary.
- Maintain accurate and timely claim file documentation in compliance with internal guidelines and regulatory requirements.
- Collaborate with defense counsel, insureds, third-party administrators, and other key stakeholders to achieve optimal claim outcomes.
- Attend mediations, settlement conferences, and trials as needed.
- Provide detailed and timely reporting to internal management and clients.
- Stay current on legal trends and changes in laws, particularly as they pertain to NY Labor Law and construction defect litigation.
