FULLY REMOTE UNDERWRITER

UP TO $200K

 

Seeking an Underwriter who specializes in businesses centered around the home (locksmiths, pest control, painting, appraisers, etc) 

Someone who has broker relationships is a big plus*

 

Position Overview:
We are seeking an experienced and driven Insurance Underwriter with expertise in a specialized niche field to join our team. In this role, you will leverage your underwriting skills and knowledge to assess, evaluate, and underwrite complex insurance risks within your niche specialty. Additionally, you will have the exciting opportunity to create and develop a new niche insurance program within the MGA space.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Underwriting Expertise:

    • Analyze and evaluate insurance applications, assessing risks and determining appropriate coverage for complex, niche risks.

    • Utilize your specialized knowledge in the niche field to assess underwriting submissions, including evaluating risks, exposures, and pricing for various products within the program.

    • Collaborate with brokers, agents, and clients to gather necessary information, offering recommendations based on underwriting guidelines and standards.

    • Ensure compliance with all underwriting guidelines, policies, and industry regulations.

  • Program Development & Innovation:

    • Lead the development of a new niche insurance program within the MGA space, focusing on a specialized market segment.

    • Identify emerging market opportunities within your niche field and design tailored insurance products to address unique risks.

    • Collaborate with internal stakeholders (including claims, marketing, and operations teams) to build and launch the new program.

    • Develop pricing models, coverage options, and terms for the new program, ensuring competitiveness and profitability.

    • Continuously evaluate and refine the program offering based on market demand, underwriting results, and industry trends.

  • Market & Client Engagement:

    • Build and maintain relationships with brokers, agents, and clients to promote the new niche program and generate business growth.

    • Conduct presentations and provide training to brokers and agents to enhance their understanding of the program and the underwriting process.

    • Monitor market trends and competitor products to ensure the program remains innovative and competitive.

  • Risk Management & Performance:

    • Monitor underwriting results for the new program and identify areas for improvement or adjustment in coverage, pricing, or risk management.

    • Implement risk management strategies to minimize exposure while maintaining competitive pricing.

    • Ensure effective claims handling and liaise with claims teams to assess risk trends and adjust underwriting criteria if necessary.

  • Collaboration & Reporting:

    • Work closely with senior management and leadership to provide updates on program development, underwriting performance, and market opportunities.

    • Prepare regular reports and presentations on program profitability, underwriting trends, and market feedback.
