Job Title: Accountant II

Our client is seeking an Accountant to join their growing team. This role will support the Finance Reporting team by maintaining accurate financial records, verifying ledgers, and providing timely management reports. The position also involves researching, interpreting, and communicating information related to investment, reinsurance, asset management, claims, and premium reporting.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Record investment transactions, reconcile custody statements, and prepare periodic investment reports.
  • Research and resolve data, reconciliation, and reporting issues related to claims, premiums, and billing.
  • Balance monthly financial statements by recording accrual transactions; identify and resolve inconsistencies.
  • Apply statutory accounting principles in preparing quarterly and annual reports using statutory reporting software.
  • Upload financial results into dashboards and budgeting systems; create and distribute monthly budget reports, analyze variances, and post correcting entries.
  • Record affiliate reimbursements and chargebacks; verify calculations, authorizations, and resolve discrepancies.
  • Organize and monitor prepaid expenses, including amortization and ledger reconciliations.
  • Prepare and file estimated tax payments, premium tax returns, sales and use tax filings, and related assessments.
  • Review invoices for accounting accuracy, proper authorization, and sales tax compliance.
  • Occasionally reconcile bank statements, claims checks, and custodial statements; investigate discrepancies as needed.
  • Occasionally process reinsurance transactions, including claims activity reviews, payables, and recoveries.
  • Collaborate with finance and customer service teams on billing, receivables, and deposit-related concerns.

 

Education, Experience, and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or business administration with an emphasis in accounting.
  • 2–3 years of general business, insurance, or related experience.
  • CPA designation preferred.
  • CPCU and/or AIAF designations preferred.
  • Strong detail orientation, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, with advanced Excel skills.

 

Compensation Package:

  • Salary range: $70K–$80K (depending on experience) + bonus.
