Claims Representative
Job Summary:
The Claims Representative is responsible for adjusting and settling insurance claims across multiple lines of business, in accordance with company procedures and applicable regulations. This role involves evaluating claims, determining appropriate settlements within authorized limits, and ensuring timely and fair resolution.
Responsibilities:
- Investigate, evaluate, and settle claims in accordance with company policies and the Unfair Claims Practices Act
- Confirm policy coverage for assigned claims
- Assign independent adjusters and appraisers when appropriate
- Pursue subrogation, salvage, and third-party recovery opportunities
- Establish and maintain appropriate claim reserves
- Report claims exceeding settlement authority to a supervisor or manager
- Identify and report potential fraud, complaints, or questionable claims
- Attend training seminars and participate in claims industry events as required
- Perform other duties as assigned by claims leadership
Qualifications/Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Active insurance adjuster license, or willingness to obtain within the first few weeks of employment (support provided)
- Minimum of one year of customer service experience preferred
- Ability to learn and understand various insurance coverages and policies
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Proficiency with company computer systems and related technology
- Willingness to pursue ongoing insurance education is preferred
- Flexibility to work varied hours and travel to office locations and vendor sites as needed
