Job Summary
Seeking a Commercial Lines Sales Manager to lead and develop a high-performing sales team focused on commercial insurance accounts. The ideal candidate will hold a Property & Casualty (P&C) license for Texas, possess a strong understanding of small-market through large-market commercial segments, and demonstrate a proven ability to coach and grow a team. This role emphasizes team leadership, pipeline management, and accountability for both new business generation and policy retention.

 

Responsibilities

  • Lead, mentor, and motivate a team of commercial lines account managers/producers
  • Oversee distribution and management of lead sources to optimize pipeline growth
  • Collaborate with team members to identify prospects, qualify opportunities, and ensure timely follow-up
  • Support quoting of new and renewal business as needed
  • Monitor team performance metrics (e.g., closed sales, retention rates, premium volume) and implement corrective actions when necessary
  • Drive retention strategies by reviewing expiring policies, identifying renewal opportunities, and addressing coverage gaps
  • Assist in recruiting, onboarding, and training new personnel to expand the team’s capacity and capabilities
  • Partner with underwriting and service teams to ensure seamless handoffs and high levels of client satisfaction
  • Facilitate regular sales meetings, performance reviews, and coaching sessions to reinforce best practices and accountability
  • Maintain current knowledge of market conditions, carrier appetite, and competitive landscape to guide team decisions

 

Qualifications/Requirements

  • Active Texas Property & Casualty (P&C) license required
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience managing a commercial lines sales team or equivalent production leadership role
  • Demonstrated expertise across commercial account sizes, with a strong track record in small-market segments and familiarity with middle and large-market commercial lines
  • Experience building and sustaining a high-volume sales pipeline, assigning and tracking leads, and driving conversion rates
  • Proven ability to coach, develop, and retain talent, fostering an environment of accountability and growth
  • Strong communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence both internal teams and external partners
  • Self-motivated with an entrepreneurial mindset and a focus on exceeding performance targets
  • Solid analytical skills to interpret sales metrics, forecast revenue, and identify areas for improvement
  • Proficiency with agency management systems, CRM platforms, and Microsoft Office applications (especially Excel for reporting)
  • Willingness to occasionally assist with quoting and policy servicing to support team bandwidth and maintain sales momentum
