Job Summary
An established and growing agency is seeking a Director of Private Risk to lead and expand its Private Risk practice. This senior leadership role involves developing strategic solutions for clients with specialized risk exposures, overseeing underwriting and program design, and fostering a “work hard – play hard” culture that drives performance and professional growth.

Responsibilities

• Lead the Private Risk division, setting vision, goals and performance metrics
• Develop and implement customized risk management strategies for clients with complex needs
• Oversee underwriting guidelines, policy placement and program administration
• Build and maintain strong relationships with carriers, brokers and external partners
• Mentor, coach and develop a team of risk management professionals
• Collaborate with claims, marketing and finance teams to ensure seamless service delivery
• Monitor market trends and emerging risks; recommend adjustments to products and strategies
• Manage divisional budgets and reporting to senior leadership

Qualifications/Requirements

• Active Life & Health insurance license
• Minimum of 5 years’ experience in risk management, underwriting or a related field
• Proven leadership ability with experience developing and motivating teams
• Strong understanding of insurance products, underwriting processes and market dynamics
• Excellent analytical, negotiation and problem-solving skills
• Outstanding relationship-building and communication skills, both verbal and written
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment
• Proficiency with agency management systems and Microsoft Office applications
