Overview:
A leading insurance organization is seeking a Senior Field Underwriter to join their team. This individual will be responsible for underwriting Workers’ Compensation business with a focus on the construction industry and related sectors. The role emphasizes strong agency relationship management, risk evaluation, pricing, and book of business growth. The ideal candidate will have established agency relationships in North Carolina and surrounding states and will play a key role in shaping the future direction of an existing portfolio.
Key Responsibilities:

Develop, maintain, and strengthen agency relationships to drive qualified submissions, quotes, and bindable business in support of profitable growth goals.

Collaborate with in-house underwriters and cross-functional departments to manage a designated book of business, ensuring exceptional client service.

Conduct regular agency visits and represent the company at seminars, conferences, and industry events.

Underwrite and negotiate new and renewal business within established authority, ensuring compliance with company guidelines for pricing and profitability.

Document underwriting files in accordance with internal standards.

Prepare monthly reports and contribute to special projects and presentations as needed.

Travel regionally as required.
Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, or related field (advanced designations such as CPCU or ARM preferred but not required).

10+ years of Workers’ Compensation underwriting experience with a carrier, ideally with expertise in the construction industry.

Strong knowledge of Workers’ Compensation insurance in North Carolina; additional experience in Tennessee and other Southeast regions (e.g., GA, SC, TX, AL) preferred.

Demonstrated ability to build and maintain agency relationships, particularly in North Carolina and surrounding markets.

Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Excellent communication, presentation, and computer skills.
Work Environment:
- This position requires regular interaction with agency partners and regional travel. Candidates must be able to manage multiple deadlines independently while contributing to a collaborative team culture.
