Job Title: Accounting Manager

The Accounting Manager is responsible for overseeing all aspects of agency financial activity, including general ledger entries, account reconciliations, carrier payables, premium finance tracking, direct bill processing, and commission accounting. The Accounting Manager will also handle client billing matters, support month-end close, and ensure financial accuracy and compliance with internal procedures. Strong accounting fundamentals, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities are essential.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage carrier payables, agency bill reconciliations, and direct bill transactions
  • Reconcile premium finance activity and ensure accurate allocation of payments
  • Oversee agency commission tracking and ensure alignment with policy data
  • Record journal entries and maintain the agency’s general ledger
  • Support monthly and quarterly financial close processes
  • Assist in the processing of premium finance agreements
  • Prepare required reports and documentation for carrier audits
  • Respond to client billing inquiries
  • Monitor accounts receivable and follow up on past due balances
  • Issue payment reminders and coordinate payment collection
  • Process incoming payments and post to client accounts accurately
  • Collaborate with account managers and producers to resolve billing discrepancies

Experience and Qualifications:

  • Exceptional attention to detail, accuracy, and follow-through
  • 2+ years of experience in accounting, bookkeeping for an insurance agency
  • Understanding of premium finance, agency vs. direct bill, and commission workflows
  • Proficiency in Excel required; Experience with Veruna Salesforce a plus
  • Team-oriented with a customer service mindset
  • Effective and professional communicator, especially when discussing billing details with clients
  • You will be expected to regularly speak with clients to explain invoices, payment terms, and account status
