Actuary (Remote)
Job Summary
An established and growing insurance organization is seeking an experienced Actuary to join the team in a fully remote, full-time, permanent role. This position plays a key role in shaping actuarial strategy across multiple insurance product lines, with responsibilities spanning pricing, reserving, and financial analysis. The Actuary will partner cross-functionally to support profitability, regulatory compliance, and long-term business objectives. The ideal candidate brings several years of actuarial experience, with exposure to homeowners and commercial lines strongly preferred.
Responsibilities
- Lead ratemaking initiatives and develop pricing indications to support underwriting profitability
- Conduct regular rate adequacy reviews and analyze internal and external data sources
- Support and enhance pricing tools, models, and actuarial methodologies
- Review and implement product strategies, rate changes, and product design initiatives
- Perform reserve reviews and IBNR roll-forwards
- Support reserve analyses and collaborate with accounting, external actuarial partners, and auditors to ensure accurate financial reporting
- Provide actuarial insights to support reserving, underwriting, and financial initiatives
- Manage the rate filing process and interact with regulatory authorities, including providing testimony as needed
- Partner with actuarial, underwriting, product, and finance teams to support business goals
- Present analyses, findings, and recommendations to senior leadership
- Perform data manipulation, analysis, and automation while ensuring data integrity and consistency
- Lead and support special projects related to pricing, reserving, and financial strategy
- Stay current on industry trends, regulatory developments, and advancements in actuarial and data analytics
Qualifications/Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Risk Management, or a related field
- Minimum of four years of actuarial experience (homeowners and commercial lines preferred)
- ACAS designation strongly preferred
- Ongoing pursuit of FCAS preferred but not required
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
- Strong experience working with insurance data and actuarial models
- Proficiency in SQL or comparable database languages
- Experience with R, Python, VBA, or similar programming tools
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and research abilities
- Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently or collaboratively
Compensation Package
- Competitive base salary: $125,000 – $140,000 (depending on experience)
