Claims Examiner - Commercial Auto Property Damage

Job Summary

Seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Claims Examiner specializing in Commercial Auto Property Damage to join a team. This role involves managing, processing, and resolving 1st and 3rd party Commercial Material Damage claims within defined authority. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in commercial/transportation claims handling, excellent communication skills, and a proactive approach to claim resolution. This is a hybrid position requiring three days per week onsite at one of the office locations.

Compensation Package

  • Base Salary: $75,000 - $95,000 per year + bonus opportunities

Responsibilities

  • Investigate, analyze, and manage 1st and 3rd party Commercial Transportation and Trucking Physical Damage claims, including coverage, liability, damages, and reserves.
  • Handle subrogation, arbitration, and salvage processes.
  • Collaborate with appraisers, investigators, adjusters, and experts as needed.
  • Maintain accurate and comprehensive claim files, ensuring proper documentation and resolution.
  • Verify policy limits, deductibles, exclusions, and endorsements.
  • Evaluate liability and monitor claim status for potential exposure opportunities.
  • Participate in special projects as assigned.

Qualifications/Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Insurance, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 4 years of claims handling experience, preferably in the commercial/transportation sector.
  • Proven experience in handling commercial trucking, bus, and/or commercial auto claims. Experience with moving and storage cargo is a plus.
  • AIC or CPCU designation is preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of commercial transportation policies, including trucking policies.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational abilities.
  • Self-motivated and task-oriented with a proactive approach to claim resolution.
