Commercial Lines Account Executive - Remote in VA or NC
Position Summary:
The Commercial Insurance Account Executive acts as a strategic advisor and primary liaison between the client and Sales Executive. This role requires advanced consultative expertise and a high degree of independent judgment. The Account Executive is responsible for managing a portfolio generating at least $550,000 in revenue.
Key Responsibilities:

Independently manage a portfolio of key commercial clients, serving as a subject matter expert across all facets of account servicing.

Maintain in-depth knowledge of agency carriers’ products, including coverage details, underwriting guidelines, and rate structures.

Clearly explain policy terms and recommend appropriate enhancements or modifications to clients’ insurance programs.

Proactively address and resolve significant client concerns or service issues.

Handle complex or escalated client complaints with professionalism and care.

Prepare and present stewardship reports that analyze risk trends, claims history, experience mods, and provide insights for predictive modeling.

Lead the renewal process by setting strategies in collaboration with the client, Sales Executive, and Marketing team; ensure timely policy renewals.

Delegate client service tasks such as issuing certificates or processing changes to the Account Manager, in line with agency protocols.

Identify and pursue cross-sell and up-sell opportunities in partnership with Sales Executives, aligning solutions with client needs.

Ensure all client information and documentation is accurately maintained within the agency management system.

Contribute to hiring decisions by participating in candidate interviews.

Engage in ongoing education and training to maintain licensing, advance professional knowledge, and minimize risk exposure through continued development.

Qualifications:

Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; prior experience with an agency management system is a plus.

Strong expertise in insurance coverage, risk management, underwriting, and rating practices.

Deep understanding of commercial insurance policies and industry markets.

Ability to identify potential coverage gaps and provide thoughtful recommendations.

High school diploma required; Bachelor’s degree preferred.

A minimum of 10 years’ experience in an insurance agency setting.
Certifications & Licenses:

Must hold at least one recognized insurance designation such as CIC, AAI, ACSR, or CISR.
