A well-established insurance organization is seeking a Senior Surety Underwriting Manager to lead underwriting operations, drive profitable growth, and oversee risk evaluation. This leader will be responsible for managing a diversified surety portfolio, supporting strategic initiatives, and guiding a high-performing team.
Key Responsibilities
- Review and analyze financial information vital to underwriting, including credit checks, bank agreements, and financial statements.
- Oversee risk selection, pricing, retention strategies, growth objectives, and profitability for an assigned location or portfolio.
- Evaluate risk quality to ensure strict adherence to underwriting guidelines and company standards.
- Review underwriting submissions completed by other team members and recommend appropriate surety credit terms and conditions.
- Build and cultivate strong relationships with internal partners, agents, brokers, and other stakeholders.
- Communicate effectively across various internal and external audiences.
- Maintain high organizational standards with the ability to manage multiple responsibilities simultaneously.
- Deliver exceptional customer service with a proactive and solutions-oriented approach.
- Make timely, well-informed decisions in support of business goals.
- Demonstrate integrity, honesty, and professional accountability in all actions.
- Support organizational objectives by using independent judgment and initiative.
- Provide coaching, mentorship, and development opportunities for underwriting staff.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience.
- Preferred Fields of Study: Finance, Accounting, Business, or a related discipline.
- Experience: 7+ years of relevant experience in surety, financial analysis, or underwriting.
- Preferred Credentials: Progress toward or completion of professional designations such as:
- Associate in Fidelity and Surety Bonding (AFSB)
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA)
- Registered Professional Liability Underwriter (RPLU)
Hybrid: 3-4 days/week.
Compensation: $155,000-$220,000
