Director of Insurance Operations

Job Summary

Looking for a highly skilled and experienced Director of Insurance Operations to oversee and lead the Commercial Lines, Personal Lines, and Marketing departments.

Compensation Package

  • Salary Range: $120,000 - $150,000

Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily operations across policy administration, claims processing, underwriting support, and customer service.
  • Develop and implement strategies to improve efficiency and effectiveness within the insurance division.
  • Establish and monitor key performance indicators to drive operational excellence.
  • Collaborate with executive leadership to develop and execute long-term business strategies.
  • Identify opportunities for growth, innovation, and process improvements.
  • Lead initiatives to streamline workflows, reduce costs, and enhance service delivery.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop operational teams to achieve business objectives.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Manage staffing, performance evaluations, and professional development initiatives.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant insurance regulations, industry standards, and internal policies.
  • Implement and maintain effective risk management practices and internal controls.
  • Collaborate with legal and compliance teams to address regulatory changes and audits.
  • Partner with underwriting, claims, finance, IT, and other departments to drive cross-functional initiatives.
  • Build and maintain relationships with external partners, including brokers, reinsurers, and regulatory bodies.
  • Communicate operational insights and performance metrics to executive leadership.
  • Leverage technology to enhance operational capabilities and data-driven decision-making.
  • Identify and implement system improvements and automation solutions.
  • Ensure effective use of insurance platforms and data analytics tools.

Qualifications/Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, Insurance, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
  • 8–10 years of experience in insurance operations, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
  • In-depth knowledge of insurance products, processes, regulations, and industry trends.
  • Proven track record of leading large teams and driving operational success.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and stakeholder management abilities.
  • Proficiency in agency management systems (Epic preferred) and data analytics.
