Software Engineer – Guidewire Platform

A technology team within a large enterprise environment is seeking an experienced Software Engineer specializing in Guidewire platforms to contribute to the development and enhancement of critical business applications. This role focuses on building and supporting enterprise software solutions that enable core operational processes and integrate with multiple internal systems.

The ideal candidate will participate in the full software development lifecycle, including technical design, application development, system integration, and production support. This position works closely with product stakeholders, analysts, and engineering teams to deliver reliable, scalable solutions that support evolving business requirements.

Key Responsibilities

Application Development & System Design

• Design and develop software components supporting enterprise applications and platform integrations

• Translate functional requirements into technical design specifications and development tasks

• Produce technical diagrams, workflows, and design documentation to support development and system architecture

• Build and maintain application modules, services, and integrations with moderate to advanced complexity

Software Delivery & Testing

• Develop and execute testing strategies to ensure code quality and system stability

• Perform unit testing, integration testing, and debugging to validate functionality and performance

• Create test data sets and evaluate results to ensure accurate system behavior

• Participate in peer reviews and technical walkthroughs to ensure adherence to development standards

Platform Configuration & Integration

• Configure and extend enterprise software platforms to support evolving operational requirements

• Develop integrations between internal systems and external platforms as needed

• Work with engineering and infrastructure teams to ensure applications function effectively within production environments

Collaboration & Requirements Translation

• Work alongside business analysts and stakeholders to understand business objectives and system requirements

• Assist in translating operational challenges into practical technology solutions

• Participate in technical discussions to help shape system improvements and new feature development

Implementation & Production Support

• Support deployment activities and ensure software changes follow established release and change management processes

• Monitor system performance after release and troubleshoot issues when necessary

• Participate in operational support rotations and assist in resolving production incidents

Technical Leadership & Process Improvement

• Provide guidance to team members on development standards, tools, and best practices

• Contribute to development planning, technical estimates, and project scheduling

• Identify opportunities to improve system performance, maintainability, and efficiency

Qualifications

Education

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related technical discipline, or equivalent professional experience

Professional Experience

• Several years of experience in software development or enterprise application engineering

• Strong understanding of software development lifecycle processes including design, development, testing, and deployment

• Experience designing and developing applications using modern programming languages and object-oriented design principles

• Experience configuring or developing within enterprise software platforms used for core business operations

Technical Skills

• Proficiency with object-oriented programming languages such as Java, C#, .NET, or similar technologies

• Experience with development frameworks, testing methodologies, and automated testing tools

• Familiarity with enterprise system integration and service-based architectures

Platform Experience (Preferred)

• Experience working with Guidewire platforms such as PolicyCenter, ClaimCenter, or BillingCenter

• Familiarity with Guidewire configuration and development tools

• Exposure to testing frameworks commonly used in enterprise software development

Additional Qualifications

• Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities

• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet project deadlines in a fast-paced environment

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills

• Experience working in regulated industries or complex enterprise environments is beneficial
