Senior Actuarial Consultant, Pricing (Small Business)

 

Job Summary
A Senior Actuarial Consultant, Pricing (Small Business) is needed to join a growing team. This role will focus on developing and recommending actuarial pricing and rating plans of a complex nature for the Small Commercial Business Owners' product. The consultant will provide insights and analysis for a nationwide book of business, influencing pricing decisions and long-term strategies. This position involves collaboration with business partners at all levels, as well as actuarial senior leaders, serving as a trusted advisor. Prior pricing experience is strongly preferred.

 

Responsibilities

  • Provide actuarial guidance and collaborate with business partners and subject matter experts.
  • Build strong relationships with peers, leaders, and stakeholders to influence product strategy through actionable insights and analytics.
  • Deliver analyses and insights to support pricing strategy for Small Commercial Business Owners’ products, including developing or enhancing tools and analytics as needed.
  • Proactively monitor profitability and claim trends, sharing results and recommendations with leaders and underwriting partners.
  • Produce detailed actuarial analyses and reports, communicating findings to analytical staff and leadership.
  • Stay current on actuarial practices, industry trends, and market developments.
  • Drive innovation in actuarial processes while maintaining clear documentation of methods.
  • Continuously improve processes and ensure accurate, transparent documentation.

 

Qualifications, Education, & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of seven years of related actuarial work experience.
  • ACAS or FCAS designation (ACAS required).
  • Strong knowledge of insurance operations and actuarial/statistical concepts, preferably within a carrier environment.
  • Advanced actuarial expertise and product-specific knowledge.
  • Strong communication and influencing skills, with the ability to present analyses effectively at various organizational levels, including senior leadership.
  • Excellent analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proven project management abilities with capacity to manage multiple priorities and lead teams.
  • Sound decision-making skills within scope of authority.
  • Ability to effectively manage through ambiguity, challenges, and change.

 

Compensation Package

  • Salary range: $130K – $190K, plus bonus potential
