Complex Claims Specialist – Construction Defect
Remote considered in select states | Compensation up to $150K base (DOE)
Job Summary
An established insurance organization is seeking a Complex Claims Specialist with significant experience handling Construction Defect claims. This role focuses on managing high-severity, litigation-driven matters across multiple jurisdictions. The position is well-suited for an experienced claims professional who thrives on technically complex files, detailed coverage analysis, and driving litigation strategy. This role offers autonomy, collaboration with defense counsel, and involvement in large-loss matters from inception through resolution.
Responsibilities
- Manage a portfolio of complex Construction Defect claims from initial coverage review through resolution
- Conduct detailed investigations, evaluate damages, and establish appropriate reserves
- Partner with defense counsel to develop and execute litigation strategies
- Prepare and present large-loss updates to internal stakeholders
- Negotiate settlements within authority and attend mediations, conferences, and trials as needed
- Draft and review coverage correspondence, including reservation of rights letters, disclaimers, and tender responses
- Review contracts and subcontract agreements to identify and pursue risk transfer opportunities
- Maintain thorough documentation and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements
- Provide high-level service to insureds, brokers, and internal partners
Qualifications/Requirements
- Demonstrated experience handling complex Construction Defect litigation claims
- Strong ability to analyze coverage issues and develop comprehensive action plans
- Experience managing high-exposure files and directing defense counsel
- Excellent negotiation, communication, and organizational skills
- Knowledge of tort and contract law across multiple jurisdictions
- Ability to work independently in a remote environment
- Multi-state adjuster licensing preferred
