Senior Claim Specialist – Commercial General Liability (CGL)
Job Summary
An established and growing insurance organization is seeking a seasoned Senior Claim Specialist – CGL to manage complex, non-litigated Commercial General Liability claims. This role is ideal for a claims professional who values autonomy, strong operational support, and a collaborative environment without excessive bureaucracy. The position offers the opportunity to handle meaningful exposures while delivering high-level service to insureds and internal stakeholders.
Responsibilities
- Manage a desk of complex, non-litigated Commercial General Liability claims from intake through resolution
- Conduct coverage analysis, investigations, liability evaluation, reserving, and settlement negotiations
- Handle bodily injury and other complex liability exposures
- Draft detailed correspondence, including coverage position and denial letters
- Establish and maintain accurate indemnity and expense reserves
- Negotiate settlements within designated authority levels
- Maintain organized file documentation and diary management
- Ensure compliance with multi-state claim regulations and best practices
- Partner with internal teams, agents, and insureds to deliver best-in-class service
Qualifications/Requirements
- 5+ years of experience handling Commercial General Liability claims
- Strong background in coverage analysis and negotiation
- Working knowledge of tort and contract law
- Ability to independently manage a full claims desk
- Active adjuster licenses or ability to obtain required licenses promptly
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent organizational and time management abilities
Compensation Package
- Base Salary: $100,000 – $125,000 annually
- Bonus: Annual discretionary bonus program
