Senior Claim Specialist – Commercial General Liability (CGL)

 

Job Summary

An established and growing insurance organization is seeking a seasoned Senior Claim Specialist – CGL to manage complex, non-litigated Commercial General Liability claims. This role is ideal for a claims professional who values autonomy, strong operational support, and a collaborative environment without excessive bureaucracy. The position offers the opportunity to handle meaningful exposures while delivering high-level service to insureds and internal stakeholders.

 

Responsibilities

  • Manage a desk of complex, non-litigated Commercial General Liability claims from intake through resolution
  • Conduct coverage analysis, investigations, liability evaluation, reserving, and settlement negotiations
  • Handle bodily injury and other complex liability exposures
  • Draft detailed correspondence, including coverage position and denial letters
  • Establish and maintain accurate indemnity and expense reserves
  • Negotiate settlements within designated authority levels
  • Maintain organized file documentation and diary management
  • Ensure compliance with multi-state claim regulations and best practices
  • Partner with internal teams, agents, and insureds to deliver best-in-class service

 

Qualifications/Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience handling Commercial General Liability claims
  • Strong background in coverage analysis and negotiation
  • Working knowledge of tort and contract law
  • Ability to independently manage a full claims desk
  • Active adjuster licenses or ability to obtain required licenses promptly
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent organizational and time management abilities

 

Compensation Package

  • Base Salary: $100,000 – $125,000 annually
  • Bonus: Annual discretionary bonus program
