Technical Claim Manager - Casualty/Construction Defect
Job Summary
Seeking a highly skilled and experienced Technical Claim Manager - Casualty/Construction Defect to join a dynamic team. This role involves managing complex general liability claims, with a primary focus on construction defect litigation.
Compensation Package
- Base Salary Range: $110,000 - $155,000 per year
Responsibilities
- Proactively manage general liability claims, primarily involving construction defect litigation, to achieve optimal outcomes.
- Assess and analyze coverage issues, issuing appropriate coverage letters and documentation.
- Conduct timely investigations and establish appropriate reserves for claims.
- Pursue risk transfer opportunities, including contractual indemnity and additional insured issues.
- Handle claims in accordance with established best practices.
- Resolve claims efficiently and effectively, ensuring timely outcomes.
- Attend mediations and settlement conferences as necessary.
Qualifications/Requirements
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in business administration, insurance, or a related field. A Juris Doctor (J.D.) is strongly preferred.
- Experience: Minimum of 8 years of relevant legal or insurance industry experience, with meaningful experience handling complex construction claims under both general liability and excess policies.
- Knowledge & Skills:
- Strong understanding of case law, statutes, and procedures impacting claims handling and valuation.
- Proficiency in proactive investigation, risk transfer, claim handling, attorney management, and claims resolution.
- Superior writing and communication skills to effectively collaborate with insureds, claimants, underwriters, and upper management.
- Familiarity with claims in U.S. western states is preferred.
