Underwriting Team Lead

Our National Client is a seeking an AIS Underwriting Team Lead
Must have current insurance experience and hold a P&C license.
Position Summary:
Exercise discretion and independent judgment while supporting, managing and directing all aspect of AIS.
Essential Functions & Basic Duties:

- Meet with Carriers to expand market appointments.
- Meet with Carriers to sell BPS/Programs distribution for Binding facilities.
- Track all the Vertical Pipelines to ensure the flow will meet goal & budget.
- Network with Retailers to bring in Production.
- Monitor BPS business to look for new product binders.
- Co-ordinate with Programs for opportunities.
- Mentor staff and assist with plan for future.
Supervisory Duties:
- This job has a high level of supervisory responsibilities. Supervision includes but is not limited to:
- Direct, instruct and guide the team members on all aspects of the servicing of the team’s book of business, as well as coach, mentor and develop team members
- Evaluate and assess workflow and book size for team members
- Reward and recognition of team accomplishments and exceptional performance
- Annual performance reviews
- Manage the Performance Development Plan process to ensure any performance issues within the team are addressed
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
- 5 to 7 years working in either broker or wholesaler
- Preferably 2 to 4 years underwriting and then 3 to 5 years broker on top of underwriting
- Understand Iso Forms
- Understanding of how policies in GL and property are rated along with understanding of ILF factors in excess
- Market players and their appetites
- Surplus market understanding
- Technology skills – including but not limited to: Outlook, Zoom, EPIC, Excel, etc.
Education and Work Experience:
- 4-year college degree
- P&C Broker’s License
- CPCU preferred
