Job Summary

 

Looking for a highly skilled Assistant Vice President, Global Casualty Underwriting to lead and grow the Casualty underwriting operations across a region. This role is responsible for driving profitable growth, ensuring underwriting excellence, and developing a team of underwriters while maintaining strong broker and client relationships. The AVP will oversee complex accounts, provide technical expertise, and lead underwriting initiatives that support the company’s long-term objectives. 

 

Salary

  • $140,000 to $160,000+/year

Job Description

  • Lead the underwriting of global casualty risks, including general liability, products liability, and umbrella/excess programs.
  • Develop and execute underwriting strategies to achieve profitability, growth, and portfolio management objectives.
  • Manage and mentor underwriting staff, ensuring technical excellence and adherence to company standards.
  • Collaborate with actuarial, claims, legal, and distribution partners to design innovative risk solutions for clients and brokers.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with brokers, clients, and industry partners.
  • Monitor market trends, regulatory developments, and emerging risks to inform underwriting decisions.
  • Provide authority guidance, referrals, and support for complex underwriting decisions.

 

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree and/or professional designations (CPCU, ARM, etc.) preferred.
  • Minimum of 10+ years of casualty underwriting experience, with significant exposure to global or multinational accounts.
  • Proven track record of underwriting leadership and portfolio management.
  • Strong knowledge of global casualty lines, including general liability, products liability, and excess/umbrella.
  • Excellent analytical, negotiation, and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to manage and develop a team of underwriters.
  • Strong broker and client relationship management skills.
  • Strategic mindset with the ability to balance growth and profitability.
