Job Summary

 

Looking for a highly skilled Assistant Vice President, Regional Underwriting Inland Marine Manager to lead and grow the Inland Marine underwriting operations across a region. This role is responsible for driving profitable growth, ensuring underwriting excellence, and developing a team of underwriters while maintaining strong broker and client relationships.

 

Salary

  • $160,000 to $190,000+/year

Job Description

  • Lead and manage the regional Inland Marine underwriting team, providing coaching, mentorship, and performance management.
  • Oversee underwriting for complex and specialized Inland Marine risks, ensuring adherence to company guidelines, appetite, and profitability targets.
  • Develop and execute business strategies to drive growth and maintain competitive market positioning within the Inland Marine segment.
  • Collaborate with distribution partners, including brokers and agents, to expand relationships and identify new business opportunities.
  • Partner with senior leadership on portfolio management, pricing strategies, product enhancements, and market analysis.
  • Monitor underwriting results, ensure operational efficiency, and uphold service and compliance standards.
  • Represent the Inland Marine line of business at industry events, market meetings, and internal leadership forums.

 

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required; professional insurance designations (CPCU, ARM, AMIM, or equivalent) strongly preferred.
  • 8+ years of commercial underwriting experience, with at least 5 years in Inland Marine.
  • 3+ years of leadership or management experience within a carrier underwriting environment.
  • Deep knowledge of Inland Marine coverages (e.g., builders risk, contractor’s equipment, transportation, warehouse legal, installation floaters).
  • Strong analytical, negotiation, and decision-making skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead teams, develop talent, and drive profitable underwriting results.
  • Established relationships with brokers, agents, and distribution partners in the Inland Marine market.
