Senior Claims Examiner

 

Job Summary

A nationally recognized insurance brokerage is seeking a Senior Claims Examiner to manage complex general liability claims on behalf of self-insured and high-touch commercial clients. This role serves as a strategic liaison between insureds and carriers, providing consultative guidance and advocating for timely, equitable claim resolution. The position requires strong technical expertise, independent judgment, and the ability to build and maintain trusted client relationships.

 

Responsibilities

• Serve as a primary advocate and point of contact between clients and insurance carriers
• Manage assigned general liability claims from inception through resolution, including investigation, evaluation, and negotiation
• Review and assess bodily injury and property damage claims
• Conduct interviews with insureds, claimants, and witnesses to gather and document relevant facts
• Analyze medical records and identify potential coverage issues
• Prepare comprehensive claim reviews for open files and present findings during client meetings
• Maintain and monitor claim diaries to ensure timely follow-up and resolution
• Evaluate and adjust reserves as appropriate
• Develop and execute effective settlement strategies
• Review vendor invoices to ensure compliance with established billing guidelines
• Communicate proactively with insureds, carriers, legal counsel, and additional stakeholders throughout the claims lifecycle
• Provide internal support and guidance regarding claim submissions and applicable lines of business

 

Qualifications/Requirements

• Minimum of 5 years of experience handling General Liability claims within Commercial Lines Insurance
• Strong understanding of claims handling practices, coverage analysis, reserving, and resolution strategies
• Ability to exercise independent judgment and manage complex claim files
• Bachelor’s Degree preferred
• Holds an active NY Independent General Adjuster License
