Job Title: Senior Property Underwriter - Engineered & Middle Market

Responsibilities
- Evaluate and underwrite property insurance risks for engineered and middle-market risks, ensuring alignment with company policies, risk appetite, and profitability targets.
- Develop and deliver tailored solutions for unique and complex property risks, leveraging detailed risk analysis, site visits, and loss history reviews.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with brokers, agents, and clients to drive business development and retention efforts.
- Collaborate closely with risk engineers, loss control specialists, and other cross-functional teams to assess and mitigate client risks.
- Monitor the performance of the property portfolio, analyze trends, and identify opportunities for growth or improvement.
- Negotiate terms, conditions, and premiums in partnership with internal stakeholders and external partners.
- Provide expert advice and act as a mentor to junior underwriters, fostering a collaborative and growth-oriented team culture.
- Stay informed on industry trends, regulatory changes, and market conditions to remain a trusted advisor in the property underwriting field.
- Contribute to special projects, such as process improvements, policy development, and innovation initiatives, to drive operational excellence.
Qualifications/Requirements
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, Insurance, or a related field. Advanced degrees or certifications (e.g., CPCU, ARM) are a plus.
- Experience: Minimum of 5–7 years of property insurance underwriting experience, with expertise in engineered and/or middle-market risks.
- Strong technical knowledge of property insurance coverages, policy structures, and risk modeling techniques.
- Proven track record of achieving growth and profitability targets in underwriting.
- Exceptional analytical skills with the ability to assess diverse, complex risk scenarios.
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills to build lasting relationships with clients, brokers, and internal teams.
- Ability to work collaboratively in cross-functional teams.
- Proficiency in underwriting tools and systems, as well as relevant software (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite).
- Strong organization and time management skills, capable of managing multiple priorities and deadlines.
- Commitment to continuous learning and staying current with industry practices and advancements.
