Job Summary
The Commercial Lines Account Manager will oversee a portfolio of mid-size to large commercial insurance accounts, ensuring exceptional service and retention. This role involves collaborating with producers to manage new and renewal business, maintaining accurate account records, and supporting underwriting and carrier relationships to achieve agency service standards.
Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary point of contact for assigned commercial clients, delivering timely and professional service
- Complete applications for new and renewal business with accuracy, gathering all necessary client and policy information
- Prepare and submit proposals, binders, certificates, and account summaries in partnership with producers
- Perform policy ratings and issue quotations using carrier websites or rating software
- Manage endorsements, audits, cancellations, and policy renewals, ensuring timely issuance and follow-up
- Maintain expiration control logs, suspense files, and system records to track outstanding items and deadlines
- Initiate correspondence with carriers and clients, obtain signatures, and coordinate policy deliveries
- Request and review renewal data, endorsements, and other policy updates from carriers and insureds
- Identify reasons for cancellation requests, take appropriate actions to retain business, and notify producers per agency guidelines
- Monitor carrier underwriting guidelines and appetite by meeting with company representatives and updating internal resources
- Review all public-facing activities to minimize errors and omissions exposure
- Foster a positive workplace culture by supporting collaborative efforts across teams
- Perform additional duties as assigned
Qualifications/Requirements
- 5 years’ experience managing mid-size to large commercial insurance accounts
- Current Property & Casualty license (required)
- Strong understanding of commercial insurance coverages, policy endorsements, and risk exposures
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Experience with agency management systems (AMS360/ImageRight preferred)
- Excellent customer service and communication skills, both written and verbal
- Ability to prioritize tasks, work independently, and collaborate effectively with producers and support staff
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational and time management abilities
- Proven aptitude for problem-solving and recognizing opportunities to improve client retention or streamline processes
