Job Summary

The Senior Claims Specialist role involves managing complex claims proactively and efficiently. The position requires leveraging analytical, problem-solving, and communication expertise to resolve claims while ensuring compliance with policies, procedures, and regulatory standards.


Responsibilities

  • Handle a wide range of complex claims, including but not limited to property, liability, or specialty claims.
  • Investigate, evaluate, and resolve claims efficiently while maintaining attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Communicate with customers, vendors, and internal stakeholders to ensure clear and timely updates throughout the claims process.
  • Negotiate settlements in accordance with company policies, ensuring fair and equitable outcomes for all stakeholders.
  • Analyze documentation, including contracts and reports, to determine coverage and liability.
  • Stay up-to-date with regulations, litigation trends, and industry standards to comply with legal and compliance requirements.
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to junior claims specialists, fostering professional growth within the team.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and implement process improvements that enhance overall efficiency and service quality.

Qualifications/Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in insurance, business, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of claims handling experience, particularly within a complex or specialized claim environment.
  • Strong knowledge of insurance policies, claims processes, and state-specific regulations.
  • Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to explain complex concepts clearly and concisely.
  • Proven ability to negotiate settlements and resolve conflicts effectively.
  • Robust analytical and problem-solving skills, with keen attention to detail.
  • Adept at using claims management software and other relevant tools.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Professional certification (e.g., CPCU, AIC) is a plus.
