Underwriter - Contract Surety
Job Summary
Seeking a highly skilled and motivated Underwriter specializing in Contract Surety to join a team. This role offers the opportunity to manage a book of business within a designated territory, develop strategic marketing plans, and contribute to the growth of the organization.
Compensation Package
- Competitive salary ranging from $85,000 to $125,000 annually
- Annual bonus plans

- Annual 401(k) and ESOP profit-sharing contributions (up to 15% of eligible earnings)
Responsibilities
- Manage profit and loss for a book of business within the assigned territory.
- Develop and execute marketing plans to attract new business by targeting key brokers, arranging meetings, and attending industry events.
- Perform underwriting functions, including financial analysis, account analysis, and industry analysis, while adhering to underwriting guidelines and authority limits.
- Serve as a resource on underwriting and territory-related issues for team members across the country.
- Travel as needed to meet with agents, contractors, and attend surety-related events within the assigned territory.
- Lead special projects and perform additional duties as required.
Qualifications/Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in insurance, finance, risk management, business, or a related field.
- A minimum of 4 years of experience in Contract Surety underwriting.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to apply strategic perspectives to underwriting processes.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Proven ability to work independently and meet objectives.
- Experience in presenting findings and recommendations to management.
